"The difference between ‘straight’ and ‘queer’ spaces is that in straight spaces, confidence is the key and everyone’s trying to take it away from you. In queer spaces, they’re trying to give you the key- but they’re not gonna force it in your hand... I would argue that for everybody, including straight people, queer dance spaces are definitely more empowering- Because there are a lot more societal rules at straight spaces."
